Morning Meditations

Updated: Sep 17, 2022

8/9

Let me arise and darkness dispel;

For you, O Lord, have arisen me well.

The night has become past and gone with the wind;

So hold to me fast and help the fight til day's end.

8/10

Feeling the dreariness in my head, I rise;

Simply wishing to stay in bed, I rise.

Hardly knowing what I'll be fed, I rise;

Fighting the sorrow til I am dead, I rise

8/13

O great rejoicing of Psalms of praise;

For here and now in the morning's whispering rays.

Today there be wind for my sails;

For only the Lord will keep me from fail.

I do not know what all the day will bring;

But keep me for the time has come to sing.

8/16

Psalm 43:5

"Why are you downcast, O my soul,

and why are you so disturbed within me?

Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,

my salvation and my God."

Can I measure the limits of his love?

Can I trench up my sins from down below?

Can I steal away his glory from above?

Can I really be downcast O my soul?

8/19

Psalm 49:5

"Why should I fear in the times of trouble,

when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me."

O Lord, where have you gone?

Not from me but from those I thought you had won?

Did their prayers fall upon deaf ears?

Was it unbelief that wet their tears?

O Lord, my God, Emmanuel, teach me truth;

Let me lean on you while in my youth.

8/30

Psalm 39:7

"But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you."

Lord give me hope as I rise;

For sleep has been fleeting from my eyes.

My trust is on you and not fallen man;

I will not build my house upon the sand.

Upon your rock is where I will stand;

Knowing firmly, you control my plans.

9/2

Psalm 82:7

"In my distress you called and I delivered you.

I answered you in the secret place of thunder.

I tested you at the waters of Meribah."

I called for you and I waited patiently;

It is quite easy to fall into complacency.

For I stood under the fountain of your grace;

And then I came and gazed upon your face.

9/9

Psalm 45:6

"Your throne, O God, is forever and ever.

The scepter of your kingdom is a scepter

of uprightness."

O lord, should I laugh at what you call wrong?

O lord, should I mourn at what you make a joyous song?

For the wretchedness of the heart is deceit;

But you, O God, forever on your throne, you seat.

9/17

Psalm 86:13

"For great is your steadfast love toward me;

you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol."

Is love but a calling card of grace?

Of a joy festering up from the grave?

And undying fire that burns in the soul;

Since God has delivered me from Sheol.

9/25

Psalm 49:5-6

"Why should I fear in times of trouble,

when the iniquity of those who cheat me surrounds me,

those who trust in their wealth and of the abundance of

their riches."

There is no greater name in whom I trust;

The one who made man from dust.

For troubles surround me on all sides and close me in;

But the one who cried for me washed away my sins.

10/13

Psalm 6:8

"Depart from me all workers of evil, for the Lord has

heard the sound of my weeping."

For you I cried and came the frightful ghouls;

they saw my pain and treated me cruel.

But the lord looked to me as one of his fools,

wondering around the dead in Sheol.

So he listened and heard my cry;

for him I would gladly die.

Even in my moaning and sighs;

I know I'll reach heaven high.

10/24

Psalm 7:10

"My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart."

Magnificent is he who saves the upright in heart;

and gives me grace though I sometimes bid him to part.

He is my strength, my banner, and my shield;

all who try to face in the end will yield.

I will confess his name as the one who heals;

so teach me Lord to kneel."

10/28

Psalm 63:3

"Because your steadfast love is better than life,

my lips will praise you."

The breathe of your grace crash over my being;

for in you my life has a joyful meaning.

And lips will continue to praise your name;

help my tongue in your power to be tame.

11/8

Psalm 60:11-12

"Oh grant us help against the foe, for vain is the

salvation of man! With God we shall do valiantly;

it is he who will tread down our foes."

Does man hold the keys to the gates of hell?

Who can go against the one who on highest he dwells?

To trust in self and man is foolish gain;

Only trust in the man who rose again.

11/9

Psalm 61:2

"From the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.

Lean me to the rock that is higher than I."

Upon the cliff on which I stand;

I see the climb and its rigorous demand.

In the safety and the shadow of your wings;

You lead me to the rock that is higher than me.

12/8

Psalm 55:6-8

"And I say, 'Oh, that I had wings like a dove!'

I would fly away at be at rest; yes, I would wonder far away;

I would lodge in the wilderness; I would hurry to find a shelter

from the raging wind and tempest."

To be pure as a dove.

To be wise as an owl.

To be brave as an eagle.

To be humble as a sparrow.

For you, O Lord, have given wind under my wings.

For you, O Lord, have given me a song to sing.

For you, O Lord, have given me a place to rest.

For you, O Lord, deserve my best.

12/28

Psalm 85:4

"Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and

put away your indignation toward us."

O Lord, I am troubled all the day long;

Why do I listen to the Sirens' song.

With conviction upheld and courage be set;

that I not be a coward filled with regret.

Pushing forward until my time is done;

Only now do I know eternity for me has just begun.

1/19

Psalm 101:3

"I will not set before my eyes anything that is

worthless. I hate the work of those who fall away;

it shall not cling to me!"

Teach me, Lord, the heart of integrity;

let me not forget my own brevity.

The heart the puts wickedness before my eyes;

Ends with a multitude of hurt and demise.
